    DAVM Badhal Thor, we wish to create an institution par excellence where young minds are ignited with a quest for learning, spirit of enquiry and scientific temperament. Our aim is to nurture our students as catalysts for change who are not only able to sustain themselves in a competitive world but also lead it without compromising on their values and principles. Our school is a branch of that sprawling D.A.V.M tree which is rooted in ancient Indian Tradition but which reaches out to the sky. Being a part of such an illustrious organization we have a tremendous responsibility. We are conscious of the fact that we have to fulfill the sacred mission of visionaries like Swami Dayanand, who lit the torch of education when our country was reeling in the darkness of illiteracy, superstition and decadence and this gives us confidence to move ahead despite hurdles and stumbling blocks.

    Make Believe Play

    Children love to have the chance to make up their own stories. You can help by supplying some simple items to aid their imaginations. For example, you could set up a mini‑kitchen area, with some pots, pans, plastic cups and plates. This offers children the chance to:

    1. Act out aspects of their own lives which may be puzzling them;

    2. Develop mathematical ideas of one‑to‑one correspondence, as they offer imaginary treats to imaginary guests “one for you and one for you”;

    3. Explore the idea of symbolic representation – the idea that one thing can stand for another; and

    4. Try out how it might feel to be someone different.

    Energetic play

    By setting up an obstacle course in the garden, or taking them to the local park, you can help them to develop physical skills such as:

    1. A better sense of overall control and balance;

    2.Judgement of direction, speed and distance;

    3. Strength and stamina; understanding of spatial relationships as they move around, through, and beside things;

    4. Hand‑eye co‑ordination as they throw and catch; and

    5. Confidence in their own skill, strength and judgement.

    Sounds and Music

    Children love rhythm, dance and singing, and helping your child to experiment with songs and rhymes develops many skills, such as:

    1.Listening carefully;

    2.Understanding more about language by hearing and responding; and

    3. Repeating key phrases and anticipating the next line of a well loved song.

    4.You can sing favourite pop songs, nursery rhymes or make up your own tunes. Gently clapping your child’s hands, or moving your knees to the rhythm as they sit on your lap, all adds to their enjoyment. You can also borrow some CDs or DVDs from the library with actions and songs on.
